THE YOUTH CAN ATTRACT HERE

provided by ur"s GowThaM
Whilst you’ve probably heard of
Alpha, you might not know that
there’s a course tailored for
young people called “Youth
Alpha.” Alpha is an amazing tool
for exploring the basics of our
faith.Millions of people have been
on the Alpha Course all over the
world, and we’re really excited to
be able to partner with them. It’s
more or less the same content,
but it’s adapted for a younger
crowd. Youth alpha can be run in
a church, a coffee shop or a
youth centre, but you can also do
it in your school. Some of our
groups have already started
running one, and we’e hearing
some great things!
One group running Youth Alpha
is the Christian Union at Andover
College. To build up for the
launch of the course in the end
of January they secured
themselves a stand at the
Christmas Fete back in December.
They had a questionnaire and a
sign saying“’If you could ask
God one question, what would it
be?!’. This got people’s attention,
and many approached the group
and started asking questions. It
was great advertising for the CU,
and also a way to invite people to
the Youth Alpha course.
After the launch of course, group
leader Vikki said“The Alpha
course is great, and around 14
people are steadily coming to it!
We’ve had a lot of interest and
the stall at the fete helped
loads!”.
If you’re interested in starting a
Youth Alpha course then you can
check out their website
www.youthalpha.org or simply
have a chat with anyone in the
NG Team about how your group
can get started and we’ll point
you in the right direction.

why saching skipping to indices tour?

Mumbai,
May
31:
Every
cricket
fan
in
India
and
the
West
Indies
was
amused
when
Sachin
Tendulkar, opted out of the Test
series in the Carribean Islands.
The reason for the withdrawal
was amusing and annoying at
the same time as the batting
legend is fit and had a good
chance to notch up his 100th
international ton against the
West Indian bowling line-up.
Some even advovated that the
little Master opted out of the
series to ensure that he has a
chance to bring up his 100th
international ton at the Lord's,
considered as the 'Mecca of
Cricket, that will host the 100th
India vs England Test (July 21-25)
and the 2000th game in the
history of Test cricket.
In an interview the MiD-DAY on
May 30, Sachin, considered by
many as the greatest batsman
ever to have played the game,
retorted back asking, "How can
you plan such things?"
He then went on to explain the
reason for his withdrawal and
stated, "I just want to spend
some time with my family. I have
not had time with my children. If
I don't spend time with them
now (during their school
holidays), I would have to wait
for one more year to do so. The
kids (daughter Sara and son
Arjun) are very thrilled because
we hadn't discussed this with
them, so they didn't know
anything. It was a surprise for
them."
But then who can make the fans,
who are ready to do anything to
watch the little master play,
understand? Leave aside fans,
even celebrated cricket writers
are ruing the fact that Sachin
won't be playing in the West
Indies.
Fazeer Mohammed, one of the
best Cricket Writers in the West
Indies, related the master's
withdrawal from the series with
his country's dismal state of
affairs in cricket administration.
In his column in the Trinidad
Express, he wrote, "But there
was obviously something
missing that made India's
batting maestro determine that a
month in the Caribbean and the
prospect of a couple really big
innings was worth passing up.
Maybe it was the challenge.
Maybe it was the sense of
occasion. Maybe it was both."
And added, "To put it bluntly:
milking our bowlers on the way
to a 100th senior international
hundred in a near-empty
stadium would have been the
equivalent of Barcelona defeating
ManchesterUnited on a Sunday
morning at the Aranjuez
Savannah with ten men and two
dogs in attendance and two
vagrants sleeping at the back of
the pavilion."
Whatever others may say, now
that the master has cleared the
air over his decision to skip the
Test series in West Indies, the
fans will certainly have some
relief before again joining the
craze about his 100th
international century. Till then,
wish the master a very peaceful
and happy holidays as he
certainly deserves that after a
glorious and eventful season of
cricket

MOBILE OPERATING SYSTEM INSECURITY

provided by ur"s GowThaM
As more online retailers
introduce mobile ecommerce
applications, criminal hackers are
taking notice. Existing mobile
operating systems are under
attack and, like standard PC
operating systems, they
sometimes fail to provide the
necessary security to support a
payment application.
Current research is primarily
geared towards securing mobile
payments, but there is a lack of
coordination between mobile
payment developers, device
manufacturers, and mobile
operating system platform
developers. Hackers are taking
advantage of the loophole
created by this lack of
coordination.
Mobile phone spyware has been
a concern for years. Legitimate
software companies sell mobile
phone spyware that allows the
user to monitor a spouse, kids,
or employees. And criminals
deploy mobile phone spyware, as
well.
Beijing-based mobile security
services firm NetQin Technology
reports that an application called
Xwodi, which allows third parties
to eavesdrop on cell phone
conversations, has infected more
than 150,000 phones in China.
Apparently, the malware targets
mobiles running the Symbian
platform, and monitors phones
by silently activating the
conference call feature or
microphone.
One security company, Trusteer,
informed The New York Times,
“Mobile users are three times
more likely to fall for phishing
scams than PC users…because
mobile devices are activated all
the time, and small-screen
formatting makes the fraud more
difficult to spot.” In the same
article, another mobile security
firm, Lookout, claimed that in May
2010, 9 out of 100 phones
scanned for malware and
spyware were infected. That’s up
from 4 out of 100 infected
phones in December 2009.
Protect yourself by refraining
from clicking links in text
messages, emails, or unfamiliar
webpages displayed on your
phone’s browser. Set your mobile
phone to lock automatically and
unlock only when you enter a
PIN. Consider investing a service
that locates a lost phone, locks it,
and if necessary, wipes the data,
as well as restoring that data on
a new phone. Keep your phone’s
operating system updated with
the latest patches, and invest in
antivirus protection for your
phone.

Chennai: Defending champions
Chennai Super Kings will be
banking on home advantage
when they take on a formidable
Royal Challengers Bangalore in
the Indian Premier League final
on Saturday.
Chennai, led by India's World Cup
winning captain Mahendra Singh
Dhoni, have won all of their
seven league games at home this
season and have lost just once in
12 matches over two editions.
Conditions at the Chidambaram
stadium suit Chennai perfectly,
leading to speculation that the
low and slow wicket has been
specially prepared for the home
side.
The Chennai franchise is owned
by N. Srinivasan, secretary and
president-elect of the powerful
Board of Control for Cricket in
India (BCCI), which owns and
runs the IPL.
Chennai coach Stephen Fleming
however believes that
irrespective of the home
advantage, his side will have to
slug it out against a determined
opposition.
"What we have picked is a side
for these conditions, and we are
very proud that we were smart
enough to pick a side that would
compete well at home," said the
former New Zealand captain.
"We certainly don't take our
home advantage for granted. We
are going to have to work
equally as hard because the team
we will play in the final know
they have got to play well to beat
us at home.
"We have played some good
cricket here. So if you wanted to
play the final, it'd certainly be
here for us."
For Chennai, the biggest threat
comes from Chris Gayle, the West
Indies opener who has been on
a roll ever since being snapped
up by Bangalore as a
replacement for the injured Dirk
Nannes.
The muscular left-hander has
scored 608 runs from just 11
innings to emerge as the highest
run-getter in the Twenty20
competition ahead of the likes of
Sachin Tendulkar.
Tendulkar, the Mumbai Indians
skipper, was all praise for Gayle
who slaughtered his bowlers
during a whirlwind 89-run knock
off 47 balls on Friday to carry
Bangalore into the final.
"All credit to Gayle for the way he
batted," Tendulkar said after
Mumbai crashed to a 43-run
defeat to Bangalore to bow out
of the tournament. "The way
Gayle started, that set the tone
for them."
Bangalore captain Daniel Vettori
hoped Gayle would repeat his
magic once again and help the
side bag their maiden IPL title
after ending up as losing finalists
in the 2009 edition.
"It’s certainly not easy to bowl to
Gayle, he has been a great asset
for us," said the Kiwi left-arm
spinner. "Conditions are going to
suit the Chennai Super Kings in
the final but we are up for it."
The final will draw curtains on a
tournament that began on April
8, just five days after the World
Cup, spanning over seven weeks
and 74 matches.

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR PC KEYBOARD SAFELY

Benefits: Laptop cleaning is a
quick fix for sticky keys and
blurred screens. In just a few
minutes, cleaning also can
improve the overall performance
of your notebook.
Cleaning Tools
Tools for cleaning a laptop are
easy to find and inexpensive. A
lint free cloth and an old
toothbrush will generally do the
job. However, for some areas of
cleaning, in place of the
toothbrush you may want to use
compressed air or invest in a
computer vacuum.
1. Turn off your laptop. Give it a
minute or so to totally power
down and then unplug it.
2. Clean your screen. LCD screens
are fragile. Do check your
manufacturer ’s recommendation
for the best way to clean yours.
However, in most cases, all you
need do is wipe it with a damp
cloth, making sure to wring out
all excess moisture. Most
importantly, unless you
manufacturer recommends
differently, don ’t use alcohol or
ammonia based cleaners.
3. Wipe down the keyboard.
Remove crumbs and debris using
your toothbrush (or compressed
air or vacuum). Wipe again.
4. Remove dust and debris from
vents with the toothbrush. The
propellant in compressed air may
contain moisture. Some
manufacturers suggest that
computer vacuums may damage
electronic components.
Remember always to check your
manufacturer ’s
recommendations.
Tip: Always use a lint free cloth to
clean your computer. Instead of
picking up debris, paper
toweling can scratch your screen
and leave paper lint on your
machine.
Tip: Never spray any cleaner
directly onto your computer.
Always wet the cloth with the
cleaner whether using water, a
homemade solution, or a
commercial preparation.

IPL 4: Gayle, Dhoni, Sanga are at the top of MVP pile

It doesn't take any
number crunching
to figure out that
Chris Gayle has
been the most
valuable player
(MVP) of the
league stage of IPL
4, but would you
have guessed that
the next most
valuable are MS
Dhoni and Kumar
Sangakkara or
that Paul Valthaty
is the only one in
the top 10 on the
list who is not an
international
player?
Gayle's fireworks may have lit up
the second half of the league
stage, but Valthaty remains the
most value for money (VFM)
player, ahead of S Aravind and
Rahul Sharma. Interestingly, the
bulk of the top 10 in the VFM list
are not out of the tournament
yet.
Behind Gayle, Dhoni and Sanga in
the MVP list are Lasith Malinga,
the tournament's top wicket-
taker by some distance, Virender
Sehwag, Yusuf Pathan, Shane
Watson, Valthaty, Johan Botha
and Shaun Marsh.
With the obvious exception of
Valthaty, none of these names
comes close to making it to the
top of the VFM list. Considering
that most of them rake in annual
fees in excess of a million dollars
while uncapped Indian players
have to make do with $50,000,
that should caused no surprise.
As before, therefore, the rest of
the top 10 on the VFM list are
also local players who have more
than pulled their weight for their
squads. After the top three come
Ambatti Rayudu, Iqbal Abdullah,
Manish Pandey, Amit Singh,
Sunny Sohal, Rajat Bhatia and B A
Bhatt, the King XI bowler, in that
order.
We aren't just pulling these
names out of a hat. Some serious
number crunching is behind
these assertions. Here's what we
did. Batting points were
calculated on the principle that
both the quantity of runs scored
and how fast they are scored
should count. So we took a strike
rate of 130 as a par value. The
total runs scored by each
batsman was multiplied by his
actual strike rate and divided by
this par figure. Thus, a batsman
who has scored, say, 300 runs in
the tournament so far would get
batting points equal to 300 if he
has scored at a strike rate of 130,
fewer points if he has
accumulated them slower and
more if he has got them at a
better clip.
For bowlers, we used the
principle that both economy and
wicket-taking should count. An
economy rate of 7.5 runs per
over was used as the benchmark.
Bowlers with a better economy
rate than this were regarded as
having saved runs for their team.
For instance, if a bowler has
been going at 6 runs per over
and has bowled 40 overs, he
would actually have conceded
240 runs. At the average rate he
would have conceded 300. So he
is given 60 points for saving
those many runs. Every wicket
gets him 25 points.
Fielding points are given for
catches, run outs and stumpings.
Catches count for 10 points, run
outs for 15. In the case of
wicket-keepers, however,
catches and stumpings fetch 25
points each, since they are in the
side mainly for fielding.
Finally, captains are given points
for the performance of their
teams, 25 points for each win
and minus 25 for each loss.
Adding all of these points
together gives us the total points
accumulated by each player.
Since it would be unfair to
compare someone who has
played, say, ten matches with
another who has played all 14,
we then divided the total points
by the number of matches played
by each player to get the points
per match. This was the basis for
the MVP rankings. The VFM
rankings were obtained by
dividing the points per match by
the fees payable to each player
per match to get a figure for the
number of points per $100,000.
To ensure that a couple of
outstanding performances don't
unduly skew the results, we took
only those who had played at
least nine matches. What is
interesting is that the MVP list is
dominated by multi-skilled
players with the exception of
Malinga who has accumulated
points almost entirely from his
bowling alone.
In contrast, the VFM list has a
preponderance of those who
have got points mainly from their
bowling, like Aravind, Rahul
Sharma and Iqbal Abdullah, and a
couple who have contributed
mainly with the bat like Sunny
Sohal and Manish Pandey. This is
a departure from the past when
both indices tended to yield
predominantly all-rounders at the
top.*@Player Team M Batting

16-year-old from Hyderabad youngest IIT-JEE topper

MUMBAI: Like the
past six years, IIT-
Bombay zone,
home to Kota, will
send the largest
pool of students
to the Indian
Institutes of
Technology. Top
honours, however,
went to the
southern zone
that produced
possibly the
youngest-ever rank 1 – 16-year-
old Prudhvitej Immadi of
Hyderabad – and bagged four
other slots in the top 10.
Of the seven zones (sliced on the
basis of the old IITs), the western
region saw the highest number
of students qualify – 3,336. IIT-
Madras zone will send 3,126
candidates to the 15 tech
schools. Delhi zone took third
place with 2,138 successful
candidates, with Dravyansh
Sharma of DPS Ghaziabad
ranking seventh overall.
Among the top-100 students, 32
come from the western zone
while 30 are from the south. The
IIT-Bombay zone has the highest
number of candidates in the top
1,000 ranks — 290. The best
ratio of number of students who
appeared to those who qualified
in the JEE went to IIT-Madras
zone. In all, 13,602 students
cleared the exam.
"Only 481 students of the 8,325
students who took the JEE from
Mumbai city qualified. Another
1,508 candidates out of 39,483
from Rajasthan, many of whom
prepared from coaching centres
in Kota, made the cut," said Jaya
Joshi, IIT-Bombay's public
relation officer.
In all, of the 4.68 lakh students
who took the JEE in April, 13,602
qualified; another 400-odd
candidates have been shortlisted
to join the year-long preparatory
course.
Rajasthan boy Shubham Mehta
topped the IIT-Bombay zone at
AIR2 (All India Rank); Dravyansh
Sharma (rank 7) from the IIT-
Delhi region; Archit Gupta (rank
14) was on top in the IIT-Kanpur
area; Ankit Jalan (rank 45) from
the IIT-Kharagpur zone; Kunal
Chawla (rank 6) from the IIT-
Roorkee region and Amol (rank
41) from the IIT-Guwahati zone
were the region-wise toppers.
Overall scores and subject-wise
cut-offs went up a bit. Faculty
attributed the rise to the errors
in the question paper, for which
the IITs had no option but to
give marks to everyone.
IIT-Kanpur director said across
India, the performance of
reserved category students
improved. Of the 2,545 OBC
candidates who qualified, 1,540
made it to the common merit list.
In case of SC students, of the
1,950 who qualified, 122 made it
without the handicap of score
relaxation and of the 645 ST
candidates shortlisted to join the
IITs, 33 made it to the common
rank list.
In all, the 15 IITs, IT-BHU and ISM
Dhanbad, have 9,618 seats. Of
these, 4,858 are for the general
category, 2,597 for OBCs, 1442
for SCs and 721 for STs.

Gambhir likely to miss Windies tour with sore shoulder

MUMBAI: Gautam Gambhir has
been advised rest for six weeks
to nurse his "sore shoulder" and
is likely to miss the West Indies
tour starting June 4. Suresh
Raina will be leading the team in
the one-day international series
in Gambhir's absence.
Gambhir, the Kolkata Knight
Riders captain, was carrying a
shoulder injury right through out
the Indian Premier League (IPL)
and on Wednesday looked in
pain while playing against
Mumbai Indians in the eliminator
at the Wankhede Stadium. He had
injured his shoulder during the
final of the World Cup against Sri
Lanka in April.
Knight Riders' team physio
Andrew Leipus, in a letter to the
Board of Control for Cricket in
India (BCCI), said that Gambhir
needs at least four-six weeks of
rest and also asked the board's
medical committee to look into
the player's injury management.
"The clinical findings supported
the mechanism of the onset of
the acute injury, however, he did
report having corticosteroid
injections on two occasions over
the previous few years. In the
last match where KKR played MI,
Gautam again felt an aggravation
of the shoulder pain on one
particular throw," Leipus said in
his letter.
"On arrival in Mumbai we
thought it was prudent to get
both an MRI and a consultation
with a leading shoulder
orthopaedic surgeon. Both the
doctor and myself believe that he
should follow an intensive,
supervised and conservative
rehabilitation pathway. But for
the best outcome, he will need to
avoid both throwing and batting
for a period of 4-6 weeks," the
letter said.
"In this regard, I would expect
that the BCCI medical committee
would need to consider the
ongoing management of
Gautam's shoulder injury beyond
the IPL and the possibility of his
missing any immediate future
tours until the shoulder is fully
rehabilitated," the letter added.
Gambhir was appointed skipper
for the West Indies tour in the
absence of Mahendra Singh
Dhoni, who was advised rest

Movie: Rangam

Review
Story
Ashwin (Jeeva), is a
photographer while Renuka
(Karthika) and Saro (Piyaa) are
seen as journalists working with
the same newspaper. All three of
them try to break the news and
stand up on their toes for all
getting the latest happenings
news. Ashwin's lens is creative
and he captures all well.
Moving forward the next
character Vasanth (Ajmal) gets
introduced and he is an
engineer. Though he is an
engineer his aim is to become a
politician and aspires to change
the society. Vasanth plans to
contest in the upcoming
elections. Ashwin who has good
political contacts, makes his
friend Ajmal a politician for a
good cause. But after turning as
a politician Vasanth turns into a
corrupted politician like all other
politicians and kicks out Ashwin
from his camp. Yogeshwar
(Prakash Raj) is the Chief Minister
of that political party. Vasanth
joins his hands with Yogeshwar
and forgets to do good for the
society. During some unexpected
mishap Saro gets killed in a
bomb blast. By seeing all these,
Ashwin plans to bring down
Vasanth by using the same
political contacts. But Vasanth
who is annoyed with the chain
reactions plans to take revenge
on Ashwin. The rest of the story
forms the interesting plans of
Jeeva with a twist in the story.
Artists Performance:
Jeeva looked cool stylish, flawless
and urbane in his character and
has done exceedingly well. His
dialogue delivery and body
language are outstanding and
brilliant. While performing action
and serious scenes he perfectly
transformed himself well and
brought right dynamism.
Karthika who made her entry in
Tollywood with Josh failed to bag
good offers in Tollywood. But her
role in Rangam is quite good and
performed with ease and élan.
Piaa Bajpai, the second female
lead is also good in the role of
journo and is the right fit. Piaa
looked simple and stylish. Ajmal
has given equal performance to
that of Jeeva and made an
impressive performance. Prakash
Raj and Kota Srinivasa Rao are
good in their regular styles.
Story and the script of Rangam
are the big plus for the movie
apart from K V Anand ’s excellent
direction. He has made this film
with heart and soul also adding
few real life instances which are
engrossing, entertaining and
racy. KV Anand has elevated the
human angle of the journalists.
In fact Anand has clearly showed
the guts, willpower and the
passion towards the profession
through Jeeva ’s character.
Music by Harris Jayaraj is
undoubtedly outstanding. He can
be termed as one of the hero. He
scored smooth and catchy tunes
which when viewed with visuals
are simply a great eye treat.
Background score is acceptable
and the song ‘Enduko Emo..’
needs a special mention.
Cinematography by Richard
Nathan is on top-class. He
captured the foreign locales
exceedingly brilliant. Editing by
Anthony is appreciable.
The way the film is detailed
deserves a great applause and
the film is better understood in
each and every scene and it
makes sure that we are into the
movie straight away. Script by
Subha is fast and furious.
On a whole Rangam is brave and
pacy and engages you with the
well designed story and neat
screenplay. The film is surely a
great entertainer and you will
not get bored at any given point
of time. Jeeva’s performance,
Harris music, cinematography,
songs picturisation and the
climax are the highlights of
Rangam.

Veera full movie review and analysis

Movie: Veera
My Rating: 2/5
Banner: Sanvi Productions
Music: S S Thaman
Cinematography: Chota K Naidu
Dialogues: Paruchuri Brothers
Producer: Ganesh Indukuri
Story, Screenplay & Direction:
Ramesh Varma
Cast: Ravi Teja, Kajal, Taapsee,
Shyam, Roja, Nasser,
Brahmanandam, Ali, Venu
Madhav, Divya Vani, Krishnudu
etc
Release Date: 20th May 2011
Review
Story
ACP Shyamsunder (Shyam) is a
tough and honest cop who gets
into a tussle with the local don
(Rahul Dev).
The don threatens Shyam’s family
and the police department
arranges for the family ’s security.
In comes Veera (Ravi Teja) as the
protector and he mixes with the
family but Shyam ’s wife (Sridevi)
doesn’t like him.
Meanwhile, there is Aikey
(Taapsee) who falls for Veera and
tries to woo him with Tiger
(Brahmi) trying to cause trouble.
The story takes a turn when
Shyam discovers that Veera is not
the real security officer. Who is
Veera? Why does he come to
help Shyam and his family? What
happens to Aikey ’s love story? All
this forms the rest of the story.
Artists Performance:
Ravi Teja has given an energetic
and intense performance. He has
done justice in all scenes and
infused life into his character.
Kajal Agarwal looks alright. Unlike
her previous films which give her
a sensuous and classy look, she
looks rather rustic in this one.
She has increased the glamour
dose.
Taapsee is a visual feast as usual
and scores with her oomph
factor. She must try and control
her face expressions as she ends
up overdoing at times.
Shyam looks handsome and
though his role is limited, he
made his presence felt. He fits the
bill like a cop and his body
language is assertive.
Sridevi looks naturally sweet but
she was unable to give contained
expressions during emotional
scenes, it looked superficial.
Pradeep Rawath was loud, Divya
Vani was irritating, Brahmi ’s
comedy was childish, Venu
Madhav was okay, Roja came and
went, Nasser was natural. The
others did their bit as required.
Highlights:
Cinematography
Glamour quotient of Kajal,
Taapsee
Chitti Chitti song choreography
Chinnari Chinni Navvu, a bit song
Drawbacks:
Outdated storyline
Heavy overdose of weak
sentiment
Crass comedy
Pale Dialogues
Spineless narrative
Dragged second half
Final Analysis:
A film has to make people
hysterical with the narration- be
it comedy or tragedy or action.
Only then the audiences connect
to film forgetting the
surroundings. When the
audiences start looking into each
others ’ faces to share pain with
dullness, that itself proves to be a
debacle.
There is always a fine line
between coming up with a good
script and getting it the right
way on the screen. As such, the
theme of the film was appealing
but the director failed to get it
onscreen in a convincing
manner. While the emotional
situations lacked strength, the
serious scenes reminded of few
other movies.
Technically and production wise,
the standard is not compromised
but content and the way it was
executed plays the spoilsport.
Though the pace was
maintained, there was not
enough grip on the script to get
the audience into the film.
Calling husband with the word
‘ penimiti’ sounds odd and
disgusting with its old flavor.
Paruchuri Brothers lost power in
their pen for sure. Ravi Teja
appears weak with his pale love
track with Kajal. On the other
hand he comes as a elderly
village men and fights with
antagonists. The main crux of the
movie should be dealt in second
half but the director over loaded
the theme with number of
emotions and characters. Hence
he failed to make it gripping. The
scenes those were kept as
suspense weren ’t revealed
interestingly and the suspense
hold itself is not gripping. The
comedy scenes between Ravi
Teja and Brahmanandam also fail
to bring adequate laughs.
Nothing is gripping in this movie
except the 5 minutes before
interval. And again the bumpy
journey starts till the end.
Overall, this is a film which gives
a stale taste of boredom even to
the masses. At the box office,
chances of success are highly
unlikely.

How to Select and Plan Mini Projects and Paper Presentation Topics in Colleges and Universities

There would be a definite craze
in you to endeavor mini projects
in your college life. Influence
yourself in doing a constructive
work like this which can bring a
big difference to your
knowledge. Develop the passion
for few subjects and master
those subjects by dedicating
more time towards it. Attempting
a mini project and coming up
with success can be a cake walk
if you have the fervor to learn the
subject practically. You can really
be outstanding once you start
acquiring practical knowledge by
doing mini projects. Do not wait
for time, place and instructions.
Search for the options available
and explore.
Choosing Topic
From the subjects that you are
studying in your semesters, you
can take up one which you like
the most. Say for example, you
are having flair towards Digital
Electronics; learn all the basic
gates, their logic and circuits
associated with it. Find books,
get assistance from your staff
and use the internet to see the
application of digital Electronics.
As a first step, look for a mini
project that has already been
done. Take it up and try doing it
on your own. You will have
difficulties when you start which
will turn as a stepping stone for
your success. With the amount of
experience you are gaining in
doing a project that has been
well prescribed, you can really
move on questing more into this
area.
Finding Time
The beginning of the semester is
the best time where you can
start thinking about the project.
In fact, for a learning process like
this, there need not be any
specific time. Never get bogged
down with the internal exams,
tests and other routine stuff in
college as they are going to keep
coming at you. Spare just an
hour in a day over a period of
two to three weeks and this will
be exceedingly enough to
complete the project.
Resources
Plan your project and look for the
resources that you can avail.
When it is a software based
project, there is nothing you will
have to possess other than a
computer. Look where you can
spend time in doing the project
whether in home or in
laboratories in your college. You
can fetch books from established
libraries at very low cost and you
can have the eternal internet
reference by your side. Speak
about your initiative to your staff
and learn things from them.
Every person will not be strong in
all the subjects but will have
strengths in one or other areas.
Counsel with the staff whom you
feel is good in that area and get
ideas to proceed.
Forming Team
It is much better to do a mini
project with couple of class
mates by your side than doing it
individually. Team effort saves
time and cost for you and the
knowledge that you can share
and develop amongst yourselves
will also be high. Motivate
yourself and your team members
in venturing mini projects.
