BANGALORE: Infosys
Technologies announced on
Wednesday that it has acquired
the software solutions business
of Gen-i, a member of the
Telecom New Zealand Group. The
company, without spelling out
the value of the deal, said the
acquisition by Infosys Australia &
New Zealand would enable it to
provide outsourcing solutions to
its Australian clients.
The company has offered
positions to about 110 Gen-i
employees and contractors
based in Auckland, Wellington
and Christchurch. Infosys' team
in New Zealand will expand to
150, mainly primarily senior

and consultants. Infosys also has
“immediate plans” to hire 15-30
persons, the company said.
The partnership “combines Gen-
i's local relationships and
capability with global expertise
of Infosys,” the company said in
a statement. The acquisition
creates“a new market
proposition for local businesses
by helping them to transform for
competitive advantage,” it said.
Among the offerings are IT
consulting, business
transformation and cloud-based
offerings, it added.
The software solutions
management team will lead New
Zealand delivery for Infosys.
