THE YOUTH CAN ATTRACT HERE

provided by ur"s GowThaM
Whilst you’ve probably heard of
Alpha, you might not know that
there’s a course tailored for
young people called “Youth
Alpha.” Alpha is an amazing tool
for exploring the basics of our
faith.Millions of people have been
on the Alpha Course all over the
world, and we’re really excited to
be able to partner with them. It’s
more or less the same content,
but it’s adapted for a younger
crowd. Youth alpha can be run in
a church, a coffee shop or a
youth centre, but you can also do
it in your school. Some of our
groups have already started
running one, and we’e hearing
some great things!
One group running Youth Alpha
is the Christian Union at Andover
College. To build up for the
launch of the course in the end
of January they secured
themselves a stand at the
Christmas Fete back in December.
They had a questionnaire and a
sign saying“’If you could ask
God one question, what would it
be?!’. This got people’s attention,
and many approached the group
and started asking questions. It
was great advertising for the CU,
and also a way to invite people to
the Youth Alpha course.
After the launch of course, group
leader Vikki said“The Alpha
course is great, and around 14
people are steadily coming to it!
We’ve had a lot of interest and
the stall at the fete helped
loads!”.
If you’re interested in starting a
Youth Alpha course then you can
check out their website
www.youthalpha.org or simply
have a chat with anyone in the
NG Team about how your group
can get started and we’ll point
you in the right direction.

why saching skipping to indices tour?

Mumbai,
May
31:
Every
cricket
fan
in
India
and
the
West
Indies
was
amused
when
Sachin
Tendulkar, opted out of the Test
series in the Carribean Islands.
The reason for the withdrawal
was amusing and annoying at
the same time as the batting
legend is fit and had a good
chance to notch up his 100th
international ton against the
West Indian bowling line-up.
Some even advovated that the
little Master opted out of the
series to ensure that he has a
chance to bring up his 100th
international ton at the Lord's,
considered as the 'Mecca of
Cricket, that will host the 100th
India vs England Test (July 21-25)
and the 2000th game in the
history of Test cricket.
In an interview the MiD-DAY on
May 30, Sachin, considered by
many as the greatest batsman
ever to have played the game,
retorted back asking, "How can
you plan such things?"
He then went on to explain the
reason for his withdrawal and
stated, "I just want to spend
some time with my family. I have
not had time with my children. If
I don't spend time with them
now (during their school
holidays), I would have to wait
for one more year to do so. The
kids (daughter Sara and son
Arjun) are very thrilled because
we hadn't discussed this with
them, so they didn't know
anything. It was a surprise for
them."
But then who can make the fans,
who are ready to do anything to
watch the little master play,
understand? Leave aside fans,
even celebrated cricket writers
are ruing the fact that Sachin
won't be playing in the West
Indies.
Fazeer Mohammed, one of the
best Cricket Writers in the West
Indies, related the master's
withdrawal from the series with
his country's dismal state of
affairs in cricket administration.
In his column in the Trinidad
Express, he wrote, "But there
was obviously something
missing that made India's
batting maestro determine that a
month in the Caribbean and the
prospect of a couple really big
innings was worth passing up.
Maybe it was the challenge.
Maybe it was the sense of
occasion. Maybe it was both."
And added, "To put it bluntly:
milking our bowlers on the way
to a 100th senior international
hundred in a near-empty
stadium would have been the
equivalent of Barcelona defeating
ManchesterUnited on a Sunday
morning at the Aranjuez
Savannah with ten men and two
dogs in attendance and two
vagrants sleeping at the back of
the pavilion."
Whatever others may say, now
that the master has cleared the
air over his decision to skip the
Test series in West Indies, the
fans will certainly have some
relief before again joining the
craze about his 100th
international century. Till then,
wish the master a very peaceful
and happy holidays as he
certainly deserves that after a
glorious and eventful season of
cricket

MOBILE OPERATING SYSTEM INSECURITY

provided by ur"s GowThaM
As more online retailers
introduce mobile ecommerce
applications, criminal hackers are
taking notice. Existing mobile
operating systems are under
attack and, like standard PC
operating systems, they
sometimes fail to provide the
necessary security to support a
payment application.
Current research is primarily
geared towards securing mobile
payments, but there is a lack of
coordination between mobile
payment developers, device
manufacturers, and mobile
operating system platform
developers. Hackers are taking
advantage of the loophole
created by this lack of
coordination.
Mobile phone spyware has been
a concern for years. Legitimate
software companies sell mobile
phone spyware that allows the
user to monitor a spouse, kids,
or employees. And criminals
deploy mobile phone spyware, as
well.
Beijing-based mobile security
services firm NetQin Technology
reports that an application called
Xwodi, which allows third parties
to eavesdrop on cell phone
conversations, has infected more
than 150,000 phones in China.
Apparently, the malware targets
mobiles running the Symbian
platform, and monitors phones
by silently activating the
conference call feature or
microphone.
One security company, Trusteer,
informed The New York Times,
“Mobile users are three times
more likely to fall for phishing
scams than PC users…because
mobile devices are activated all
the time, and small-screen
formatting makes the fraud more
difficult to spot.” In the same
article, another mobile security
firm, Lookout, claimed that in May
2010, 9 out of 100 phones
scanned for malware and
spyware were infected. That’s up
from 4 out of 100 infected
phones in December 2009.
Protect yourself by refraining
from clicking links in text
messages, emails, or unfamiliar
webpages displayed on your
phone’s browser. Set your mobile
phone to lock automatically and
unlock only when you enter a
PIN. Consider investing a service
that locates a lost phone, locks it,
and if necessary, wipes the data,
as well as restoring that data on
a new phone. Keep your phone’s
operating system updated with
the latest patches, and invest in
antivirus protection for your
phone.
