The Govt. of Andhra Pradesh will fill up 6063 Village Revenur Assistants posts very soon. Details of posts, district wise vacancies, eligibility and selection procedure are also available for these posts.

Village Revenue Officers (VRO) :

The Government of AP is likely to recruit 1564 Village Revenue Officers (VROs) in the pay scale of Rs. 7740 – 23040. Eligibility is pass in 10th Class. Selection will be through written examination which contains questions on general knowledge. Update is available at the end of this post.

Total number of vacancies in the state are 8084. But the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh has allowed the Revenue Department to fill up 6063 posts initially. More number of vacancies are available in Mahaboobnagar district with 492 posts. East Godavari and Karimnagar districts are in second and third positions with 466 and 464 vacancies respectively. Following are district wise break up of VRA vacancies in Andhra Pradesh:

Village Revenue Officers (VRO) :

The Government of AP is likely to recruit candidates for 1564 Village Revenue Officers (VROs) posts in the pay scale of Rs. 7740 – 23040. Eligibility for these posts is pass in 10th Class. Vacancies in Village Panchayat Services:

The Government of AP is contemplating to recruit candidates for various vacancies available in Andhra Pradesh Village Panchayat Services. Vacancies are available in the positions of Panchayat Development Officers, Junior Engineers, Accountants cum Data Entry Operators, Assistant Extension Officers etc. It is estimated that there are 250 vacancies in the Extension Officers posts. Eligibility: Graduation / Intermediate / SSC (based on the posts)

Village Revenue Assistants (VRA):

6063 vacancies; Eligibility is pass / appearance in 7th class. Salary: Rs. 3000. Male and female candidates eligible for VRA posts. Candidates failed in 7th class also can apply for VRA posts. Tahasildars will select the candidates based on the marks in marks in a qualifying examination.

Here is the latest notification about the Government of Andhra Pradesh which has announced the recruitment notification regarding the Village Revenue Officers and Village Revenue Assistants for the vacant post that are available in Andhra Pradesh State.

The recruitment board has mentioned that the education qualification requirements for the Village Revenue Officers VRO posts is the candidate must have passed in Intermediate Examination and the recruitment board has also mentioned that the qualification requirements for Village Revenue Assistants VRA posts is that the candidate must be passed in SSC 10th Class.

The Recruitment process is based on the marks scored by the candidates in the qualifying examinations which was mentioned above. Interview will be conducted for the candidates those who apply for the vacant post in Village Revenue Officers and Village Revenue Assistants.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has formed a sub- committee with a group of ministers under the chairmanship of N. Raghuveera Reddy to oversee the recruitment process of Village Revenue Officers and Village Revenue Assistants. The sub committee has decided to complete the recruitment process for all the 9000 vacant posts by the end of August 2011. They have also recommended Collectors and RDOs of all the districts in the state to speed up the recruitment process.

The sub committee has disclosed that the education qualification for the VRO posts will be pass in Intermediate Examination and the qualification for VRA posts will be SSC / Tenth Class. There will be no written examination for any posts. Selection of the candidates will be based on marks in the qualifying examinations (Inter / 10th Class). Reservations will be followed as per the rules. Weightage of 85 marks will be allotted for marks in the qualifying exam, reservation, local status and other standards. Remaining 15 marks will be for performance in interviews. The entire recruitment process will be conducted at the district level only and district collector will act as Chairan of the District Selection Committee.

8 tips to speak english like an american

8 Tips for speaking English fluently!

Here are a few tips and suggestions for you to find input of English around you and improve your English speech:

1. Rent or buy an English movie DVD

Rent or buy an English movie DVD. Put the English subtitles on. Follow the movie.
This has many advantages:
a. You will be able to compare the written words to the correct pronunciations.
b. You will get a feel of how real English sentences are formed when speaking.

c. You will be learning English but it will not be frustrating and boring because you will be watching a movie.

2. Read about any subject that interests you

There are a lot of English magazines available on a lot of different topics. No matter what subject interests you, there must be some magazine that talks about it. There are English magazines about Business, Brides, Guns and Ammo, House Keeping, Stock Market, Sports, Computers, Electronics, Linux, Graphic Designing, Cooking etc.

3. Read Internet forums of subject matter that interests you

Got to Internet forums of the subject matter that interests you. Generally most of the forums are in English language and are a great source of English input.Forums are a great source of information. Also in forums real people talk about real problems. Most of the information typed in forums is written in an informal way. Because of this the forums make a good source for English input. Reading forums exposes you to a lot of phrases of daily use.

4. Read English fiction novels

Read English fiction of your choice. Pick up some thing that interests you. Take it home and read it. Be sure to look up all the new words you come across in the book.

5. Listen to the radio and TV

There are also many different radio stations available now-a-days in the big cities. Some of these radio stations are in English. Listen to them to get a feel of the language.

Besides the radio, you could also listen to the "News In English". It’s available on a wide variety of channels. The news is a good place to get input of the English language because it is spoken in a very clear, easy to understand way.

6. Chat with fluent English speakers

Chat with fluent English speakers real or online. Make friends with interesting English speakers. Become pen-pals with a fluent English speaker.While talking to them look at their lip movement for tips on how to pronounce words correctly.

7. Most effective tip: "Think in English"

One of the most common mistakes that English learners make is, they think in their mother tongue. When they want to say something in English, they think in their mother tongue, translate it to English and then say it in English. The result is a very flawed English sentence. Never do this!

If you want to speak in English fluently you will have to learn to "think" in English. When you are constructing sentences in your mind before saying them, think in English and form them in English in your mind.

Many deserving candidates lose out on job opportunities because of their vernacular accent.

Can I 'neutralise' my accent?

Yes, you can. All you need to do is train yourself to speak English as comfortably and perfectly as you speak your mother tongue.

How do you train yourself? By inculcating certain practices in your daily lifestyle. These will get you closer to sounding like a native English speaker and equip you with a global accent -- and you will speak not American or British English, but correct English.

This is the first step to learn any other accent, be it American or British or Australian.

Lisa Mojsin, head trainer, director and founder of the Accurate English Training Company in Los Angeles, offers these tips to help 'neutralise' your accent or rather do away with the local twang, as you speak.

i. Observe the mouth movements of those who speak English well and try to imitate them.

When you are watching television, observe the mouth movements of the speakers. Repeat what they are saying, while imitating the intonation and rhythm of their speech.

ii. Until you learn the correct intonation and rhythm of English, slow your speech down.

If you speak too quickly, and with the wrong intonation and rhythm, native speakers will have a hard time understanding you.

Don't worry about your listener getting impatient with your slow speech -- it is more important that everything you say be understood.

iii. Listen to the 'music' of English.

Do not use the 'music' of your native language when you speak English. Each language has its own way of 'singing'.

iv. Use the dictionary.

Try and familiarise yourself with the phonetic symbols of your dictionary. Look up the correct pronunciation of words that are hard for you to say.

v. Make a list of frequently used words that you find difficult to pronounce and ask someone who speaks the language well to pronounce them for you.

Record these words, listen to them and practice saying them. Listen and read at the same time.

vi. Buy books on tape.

Record yourself reading some sections of the book. Compare the sound of your English with that of the person reading the book on the tape.

vii. Pronounce the ending of each word.

Pay special attention to 'S' and 'ED' endings. This will help you strengthen the mouth muscles that you use when you speak English.

viii. Read aloud in English for 15-20 minutes every day.

Research has shown it takes about three months of daily practice to develop strong mouth muscles for speaking a new language.

ix. Record your own voice and listen for pronunciation mistakes.

Many people hate to hear the sound of their voice and avoid listening to themselves speak. However, this is a very important exercise because doing it will help you become conscious of the mistakes you are making.

x. Be patient.

You can change the way you speak but it won't happen overnight. People often expect instant results and give up too soon. You can change the way you sound if you are willing to put some effort into it.

Quick tips

Various versions of the English language exist. Begin by identifying the category you fall into and start by improving the clarity of your speech.

~ Focus on removing the mother tongue influence and the 'Indianisms' that creep into your English conversations.

~ Watch the English news on television channels like Star World, CNN, BBC and English movies on Star Movies and HBO.

JOBS:US govt wants hackers

WASHINGTON: The National Security Agencyhas a challenge for hackers who think they're hot stuff: prove it by working on the "hardest problems on Earth."

Computer hacker skills are in great demand in the US government to fight the cyber wars that pose a growing national security threat -- and they are in short supply.

For that very reason an alphabet soup of federal agencies -- DOD, DHS, NASA, NSA -- are descending on Las Vegas this week for Defcon, an annual hacker convention where the $150 entrance fee is cash only -- no registration, no credit cards, no names taken. Attendance is expected to top 10,000.

The National Security Agency is among the keen suitors. The spy agency plays both offense and defense in the cyber wars. It conducts electronic eavesdropping on adversaries and protects US computer networks that hold super secret material -- a prize target for America's enemies.

"Today it's cyber warriors that we're looking for, not rocket scientists," said Richard "Dickie" George, technical director of the NSA's Information Assurance Directorate, the agency's cyber-defense side.

"That's the race that we're in today. And we need the best and brightest to be ready to take on this cyber warrior status," he said in an interview.

The NSA is hiring about 1,500 people in the fiscal year which ends September 30 and another 1,500 next year, most of them cyber experts. With a workforce of just over 30,000, the Fort Meade, Maryland-based NSA dwarfs other intelligence agencies, including the CIA.

It also engages in cyber-spying and other offensive operations, something it rarely, if ever, discusses publicly. But at Defcon, the NSA and other "Feds" will be competing with corporations looking for hacking talent too.

The NSA needs cyber security experts to harden networks, defend them with updates, do "penetration testing" to find security holes and watch for any signs of cyber attacks.

The NSA is expanding its fold of hackers, but George said there is a shortage of those skills. "We are straining to hire the people that we need."

Misfits or fit-ins?
It might seem to be an odd-couple fit -- strait-laced government types with their rules and missions trying to recruit hackers who by definition want to defy authorities.

George said the NSA is actually an environment where the hacker mindset fits right in to work with "a critical mass of people that are just like them."

But what about culture rifts? "When I walk down the hall there are people that I see every day and I never know what color their hair's going to be," George said. "And it's a bonus if they're wearing shoes. We've been in some sense a collection of geeks for a long, long time."

The agency has long been known for its brilliant, but sometimes eccentric, mathematicians and linguists. Jeff Moss, a hacker known as Dark Tangent, knows something about bridging the two worlds. He founded Defcon and the companion Black Hat conference for security professionals and is now a member of the Department of Homeland Security's Advisory Council, which advises the government on cyber security.

"They need people with the hacker skill set, hacker mind-set. It's not like you go to a hacker university and get blessed with a badge that says you're a hacker. It's a self-appointed label -- you think like one or you don't," Moss said.

He drew a distinction between hackers with skills and computer criminals. Of the latter he says with a laugh: "It would not be good to let them in your front door."

Moss worries about young hackers who might cross lines and end up breaking laws that did not exist when he got his first computer in the early 1980s.

"You can absolutely learn the same skills without breaking any law," he said. While US intelligence agencies' computer systems are believed to be relatively secure, a wave of recent cyber attacks has hit the Pentagon, major defense contractors and others such as the International Monetary Fund.

The NSA's tasks include helping the Homeland Security department secure civilian US government networks. One government bureaucratic hindrance that can impede hiring top-flight experts is the security clearance process that can take six months, by which time a candidate may have found other employment. For the NSA, prospective employees must pass a lie-detector test, be drug-free for one year and undergo an extensive background check.

Beware 'ankle biters'
Unlike the threat from nuclear weapons where it is clear which countries have that capability, cyber attacks can come from anywhere. "So we need to worry about everybody," George said.
"In fact we need to worry about significant adversaries hiding among the ankle biters." He explained that it was like finding a single needle in a pile of needles -- much more difficult than in a haystack. Among constant pings from teenagers just fooling around, "the real bad guy can hide in that noise," George said.

"That's a big problem for us, trying to identify the real threat from among all the stuff that's not really threatening." George would not name countries that pose high threats but other intelligence officials have expressed concern about China's growing cyber-warfare capabilities, as well as Russia's.

The NSA can attract hackers to work within its cloistered walls by dazzling them with the latest technology, appealing to their competitive nature, and giving them a sense of working for the greater good, George said.

"We have a wonderful atmosphere, we have great people and we have the hardest problems on Earth. And we need help, the country needs help," he said. But there is one big difference about winning bragging rights at public competitions versus inside the NSA enclosure.

"You're not going to make yourself famous working here, that's the downside. You can be internally famous, but you can't be externally famous," George said.

The NSA's secretive nature also brings a positive side-effect in striking a work-life balance."If you come here you really can't take work home with you," George said. "That's a bonus."

Internet use affects memory: Study

The widespread use of search engines and online databases has affected the way people remember information, researchers are reporting.

The scientists, led by Betsy Sparrow, an assistant professor of psychology at Columbia, wondered whether people were more likely to remember information that could be easily retrieved from a computer, just as students are more likely to recall facts they believe will be on a test.

Dr Sparrow and her collaborators, Daniel M. Wegner of Harvard and Jenny Liu of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, staged four different memory experiments. In one, participants typed 40 bits of trivia — for example, "an ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain" — into a computer. Half of the subjects believed the information would be saved in the computer; the other half believed the items they typed would be erased.

The subjects were significantly more likely to remember information if they thought they would not be able to find it later. "Participants did not make the effort to remember when they thought they could later look up the trivia statement they had read," the authors write.

A second experiment was aimed at determining whether computer accessibility affects precisely what we remember. "If asked the question whether there are any countries with only one color in their flag, for example," the researchers wrote, "do we think about flags — or immediately think to go online to find out?"

In this case, participants were asked to remember both the trivia statement itself and which of five computer folders it was saved in. The researchers were surprised to find that people seemed better able to recall the folder.

"That kind of blew my mind," Dr. Sparrow said in an interview.

The experiment explores an aspect of what is known as transactive memory — the notion that we rely on our family, friends and co-workers as well as reference material to store information for us.

"I love watching baseball," Dr. Sparrow said. "But I know my husband knows baseball facts, so when I want to know something I ask him, and I don't bother to remember it."

The Internet's effects on memory are still largely unexplored, Dr. Sparrow said, adding that her experiments had led her to conclude that the Internet has become our primary external storage system.

"Human memory," she said, "is adapting to new communications technology."
